Lord, Jesus, Through Thine infant cries
when You were born for me in the manger,
Through Your tears when You died for me on the Cross,
Through Your love as You live for me in the tabernacle,
Have mercy on me and save me.
Amen.
Lord, Jesus, Through Thine infant cries
when You were born for me in the manger,
Through Your tears when You died for me on the Cross,
Through Your love as You live for me in the tabernacle,
Have mercy on me and save me.
Amen.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me!
Strengthen me under the pressure of temptation.
Strengthen me when principle is at stake.
Strengthen me to do Your Will, My God.
Strengthen me in moments of suffering,
in times of loneliness,
in periods of depression.
Strengthen me that I may never swerve from You, dear Christ,
nor weaken through human respect,
Give me confidence in the depths of danger.
Give me hope when I am surrounded by fear.
Still my worries,
calm the anxieties pressing in on me from the world I live in.
Reassure me that you are with me when I seem alone.
Ease my doubting, as you did Thomas'.
Guide my searching for peace,
so that I may not seek it where it is not to be found,
Lord, in Your love for the Church,
You provide bishops, priests, and deacons
as shepherds for Your people,
and You call men and women
to leave all things to serve You joyfully in religious life.
May those whom You have raised up
as servants of the Gospel
and ministers for Your altars
show forth dedication and compassion.
O most holy Virgin Mary,
to whom God sent the Angel Gabriel
to announce that you should be the mother of His Only-Begotten Son,
pray for us who have recourse to you.
Lord, I believe:
I wish to believe in You.
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved,
and let it penetrate my thought,
my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful
and give peace and gladness to my spirit,
and dispose it for prayer with God
and conversation with men,
Lord, help me live from day to day
In such a self-forgetful way,
That even when I kneel to pray,
My prayer shall be for "Others"
Help me in all the work I do
To ever be sincere and true,
And know, that all I do for You
Must needs be done for "Others"
“Memories Are Made of This,” go the words of the old song. Well, this certainly is the case with Father Gabriel Rojas, a Columban from Peru who for many years has brought the wonders of God and Creation into the lives of parishioners in the deprived outskirts of Lima, Peru’s capital, through the sound of the music of his folk group “Memorias” (”Memories” in English).
How life has slowed down!
I used to be engaged in frenetic activity.
Now I am limited by constraints from Covid-19.
I always wanted to rest, to simply have time to be at peace.
Now I have that time.
But instead I am anxious, upset and worried
about getting back to the way it was.
Maybe my idea of peace is not the Lord’s.
Dear Lord!
Make me remember,
when the world seems cold and dreary
and I know not where to turn for comfort,
that there is always one spot bright and cheerful,
the Sanctuary.
When I am in desolation of spirit,
when all who are dear to me have passed away
like summer flowers
and none are left to love me and care for me,
The Columbans are a society of missionaries, including priests and lay people, who minister to people of various cultures as a way of witnessing to the universal love of God.
We go in the name of the Church to announce, by deed and word, the Good News of Jesus Christ.
