Heavenly Father, obtain through Your Son,
Jesus Christ, the souls of my parents, friends,
relatives and neighbors, both living and dead.

As we read in Scripture, God’s call may not come
in an earthquake or a fire or some other spectacular event.
God’s call most often comes in the gentle breeze.
God whispers. God most often does not shout.
Lord, give me the patience
to be silent and peaceful and listen.
Allow me to repeat the words of the prophet,
Lord, for love of you St. Peter Claver
became the faithful servant of slaves.
Through his prayer help us to see
the true dignity of the human family,
all children of one father
and to spend ourselves for their salvation.
We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.

September 2019 was very special as I had the opportunity and privilege to visit Brazil for the first time. In visiting a vast country like Brazil for a short time there is the real danger that one could do a real injustice to a country rich in culture and heritage.
O God, the creator of all things,
you framed the law of labor for the human race.
Graciously grant, by the example and patronage
of St. Joseph, that we may do the work
You provide us and earn the reward You promise.
Sustain us with Your grace to live up to our duties
in charity and justice.
Amen.
Keep us, O God, from all pettiness.
Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
let us be done with fault-finding
and leave off all self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense
and meet each other face to face,
without self pity and without prejudice.
may we never be hasty in judgment,
and always be generous.
Give us a heart as beautiful, pure, and spotless as yours.
A heart like yours, so full of love and humility.
May we be able to receive Jesus as the Bread of Life,
to love Him as you loved Him,
to serve Him under the mistreated face of the poor.
