Lord Jesus Christ, take all my freedom,
my memory, my understanding,

O God, who made the Bishop Saint Peter Chrysologus
an outstanding preacher of Your Incarnate Word,
grant, through his intercession,

Fr. Eamon Sheridan spend 20 years in Taiwan, served on the Columban General Counsel and is now on mission in Myanmar. He recently met with Columban Fr. Alvaro Patricio Martínez Ibáñez, a member of the current Columban General Council, to discuss how he became a Columban priest and his life as a missionary.
In the Gospel we hear how Jesus performed a miracle by saying to the paralyzed man, “Rise up and walk!” Today He continues to work the same miracle, maybe not directly, but through the intervention of people like us. As a Columban Missionary priest working in Peru, for many years I have served as chaplain to our school in Lima for special needs children. Some of these children suffer from cerebral palsy, which is a form of paralysis.
To you do we turn, Our Heavenly Mother
of sweetest love and tender compassion,
in this and every graceful moment
that passes under your protection and care.
Pray for us your beloved children,
that the light of your Son Jesus
which so purely flows through your
Immaculate Heart will illuminate our lives
and vanquish all darkness in our midst.
O Mother of Perpetual Help,
grant that I may ever invoke your
most powerful name, which is the safeguard
of the living and the salvation of the dying.
O glorious Apostle, Saint James, who
by reason of your fervent and generous heart
was chosen by Jesus to be witness
of His glory on Mount Tabor, and of His agony
in Gethsemane; you, whose very name
is a symbol of warfare and victory:
obtain for us strength and consolation
in the unending warfare of this life,
I wish to believe in You.
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved,
and let it penetrate my thought, my way
of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful and give peace
and gladness to my spirit, and dispose it
for prayer with God and conversation with men,
so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession
